DC Labor Chorus

The DC Labor Chorus
Abbott Stage     Noon

An interview with the DC Labor Chorus!

Who and what are your primary musical influences, and why?

The DC Labor Chorus is a culturally mixed group and our primary musical influences come out of the African American gospel tradition, the European American folk tradition, as well as a smattering of pop and jazz influences.
How about cultural-political influences?
We are committed to supporting the forward and positive movement of organized labor as well as the movements for peace and justice.
Have there been reactions to your music or fans of your music that surprised you?
We held our annual spring concert in Washington, DC and a group of children from Shepherd Elementary School joined us for a civil rights song medley. The young people enjoyed it so much; they wanted to stay for the second act. We want to establish a tradition of having school children sing with the chorus.
