Takoma Park Folk Festival

The Takoma Park Folk Festival 2008 T-Shirt Design Contest is now accepting entries. The winning art work will be used on our T-shirt, Festival Program, and other items to publicize the 31st annual Takoma Park Folk Festival on Sunday, September 14, 2008.

The winning artist will receive $200, two T-shirts, and recognition in our publicity materials. The winning design and Honorable Mention designs will be reproduced on www.TPFF.org and in the Festival program.

Contest Rules

1. Artists must reside in Maryland, District of Columbia, Virginia, or West Virginia.
2. Entries must include a completed entry form. Artists must sign the release on the entry form.
3. A qualified panel will select the winning entry. All decisions are final.
4. Criteria for selection:
   1. Must be original work – no clip art or stock photos.
   2. Relevance to the performances, activities, and atmosphere of the Festival.
   3. Artistic merit and creativity.
   4. Reproducibility in 4-color printing on a T-shirt. Additional reproductions might include black/white and 4-color reproduction in the Festival program and promotional material.
5. Text using the Festival's name may be incorporated into the design.
6. Artists may sign their work.
7. All two-dimensional media are acceptable, including paintings, drawings, collages, photographs, computer-generated art, etc. Format can be any shape (vertical, horizontal, square, round, etc.).
8. For electronic entries, CDs, DVDs, and e-mail attachments are acceptable. E-mail applications also can link to an online site where the design can be seen.
9. Physical entries should be no larger than 18" x 24". They should not be framed. Entry forms should not be permanently attached to the art work.
10. Collaborative efforts will be accepted. All collaborators must sign the release on the entry form.
11. The Winning Entry will become the property of the Takoma Park Folk Festival, Inc. The winning artist(s) must sign a transfer of ownership and copyright document within ten (10) days of notification. This document will be prepared by the Takoma Park Folk Festival.
12. Honorable Mention recipients must allow their entries to appear in the 2008 Festival program and TPFF Website.
13. Entries will be accepted beginning on March 3, 2008, and until 5:00 p.m., Friday, June 6, 2008. Entries mailed through the US Postal Service will be accepted if postmarked on or before May 30, 2008. Mail entries to:

14. To have your artwork returned, include self-addressed packaging and adequate US postage.
15. Receipt of entries will be acknowledged if an e-mail address is provided on the entry form.

• The winner will be notified by June 23, 2008.
• Reasonable care will be taken in the handling of entries; however, TPFF, Inc. cannot be responsible for loss or damage.
