The Takoma Park Folk Festival has been an annual community event organized by volunteers for since 1978. We are not part of any larger organization. We are a locally based, open committee. We invite the participation of all citizens to set policy and carry out the many tasks necessary to put on a one-day extravaganza each September.

What a great way to meet your neighbors, have a good time, and help make a lot of people happy for one special day!

Volunteers needed for pre-festival tasks

Volunteers are encouraged to help with the many tasks it takes to put on such a terrific show. Please come to one of our meetings or contact us to see how you can be involved. Some of the tasks you can help us with include: publicity, programming, sound, food, logistics, construction, outreach, volunteer management, community tables coordination, parking, hospitality, recycling, and fundraising. Volunteers will be needed on September 14th

Festival organizers depend on over 240 volunteers whom we schedule the day of the event to help construct stages and assist in all aspects of running the Festival. Check our Volunteer page as the festival approaches for more information.

Remember, we count on volunteer support from our community — we could not have a festival without our extraordinary volunteers!

Our organizing meetings are open to the public and we encourage everyone who is interested to get involved with the festival planning and organization.
