Thank you for your interest in the 33rd annual Takoma Park Folk Festival on Sunday, September 12, 2010.

On Sunday, September 12, 2010, the 33rd annual Takoma Park Folk Festival will welcome thousands of enthusiastic visitors to a free celebration of the arts and traditional cultures from around the world. We encourage musicians, dancers, and storytellers in the greater Washington D.C. area to apply to perform at TPFF 2010.

Please note that since the Festival originated as a community celebration, most of the performers are from Maryland, D.C., and northern Virginia. While we have had occasional guest artists from outside the area, celebrating LOCAL artists is our focus.

Performing artists donate their time and talent to the Festival; TPFF does not compensate the performers. Even without a paycheck, however, there are a number of valuable benefits to being a TPFF performer:

  • You will be part of a great community celebration of artistry and diversity that draws thousands of people each year.
  • You will have an appreciative and energetic audience.
  • You may sell your recordings at your stage and at a special Performers' Sales Booth, as well as promote future gigs.
  • Your appearance will be mentioned in our extensive area-wide pre-Festival publicity effort.
  • You will be listed (with your booking information) in the Festival's program guide and on this Web site, so you may get referrals long after the final chorus has been sung.
  • And we treat you like a VIP, with free parking, a hospitality room with food, drink, and instrument check, and a discount on TPFF T-shirts!

In order to give opportunities to as many performers as possible, a featured performer may appear for no more than two consecutive years. Thus, if you have been a featured performer at TPFF in both 2008 and 2009, you are not eligible to perform this year.

Priority is given to artists from the greater Washington D.C. area.
