We are excited to announce Caryn Chavarria as the winner of the 2025 Takoma Park Folk Festival design contest!

Caryn Chavarria is a multimedia Latina artist based in Rockville and raised on the border of Takoma Park and Silver Spring. Caryn is also a high school art teacher and has been teaching digital art, photography, and ceramics for the past 8 years. Through her art, she celebrates complexity, connection, and the beauty of seeing the world through a unique lens. Her design for the Takoma Park Folk Festival pays homage to a few markers of Takoma Park's landscape and history such as Roscoe, while also highlighting the vibrancy of the festival's community, food, artisans, and of course its music. You can find Caryn on Instagram at @caryn.dipity.

Caryn's design will be featured on our 2025 t-shirt and program cover — you can get both at the festival on September 7.
