Cara's Creations

Cara Jablon is a retired attorney who has been designing and making jewelry for twenty years, doing business as “Cara’s Creations” in Washington, D.C. Having had a long-standing interest in necklaces, Cara started making jewelry after bringing some necklaces in for restringing at a local shop and determining that the cost of repair was too high. She learned how to restring her own necklaces and took courses in a variety of different techniques.

Cara’s current focus is on coiled wire necklaces and earrings, pewter and stone necklaces and earrings, kumihimo weaving, other woven necklaces, multi-strand necklaces, shaped wire earrings, and pearl lariats. She displays and sells her work at local craft fairs, and has participated in many fairs over the years, including the Flower Mart at the National Cathedral, Art on the Avenue, the Northern Virginia Handcrafters Guild (NVHG) South Run Arts and Crafts Show, the NVHG Vienna Arts and Crafts Show, the Temple Sinai Holiday Mart, the Washington Folk Festival (at Glen Echo), and the James Renwick Alliance Craft Fair.

Cara is currently the president of the Northern Virginia Handcrafters Guild, and a co-chair of the Vienna Arts and Crafts Show. She is also the vendor chair for the Temple Sinai Holiday Mart.

Cara’s jewelry will be at the upcoming Takoma Park Folk Festival.
